GUESTS: Mike Pugh, Steve Brett, Ken Haye / Mike Myers / Chris Ayer and little Tom Simpson (Ryan)
HAPPY DOLLARS: Judd Knox – reminded the club of Elmer’s’ message that there are lots of things we can do within our community and one thing is to bring used magazines to the York Hospital (I heard that on Saturday morning 60 copies of this month’s ‘Rotarian’ arrived at the hospital); Norm Davidson had a happy $2, one for Doug Gray and the other for Greg Villa for taking such good care of all his tourists’ teeth over the summer; Jim Bartlett had another happy dollar this week for Casino’s No, but this weeks dollar is a result of the oppositions complaint of the Casino’s No advertisement and the free publicity Casino’s No received; Ray DeFeo contributed his happy dollars for the high school’s field hockey team’s 3-0 record and for his daughter Katie getting field time as a freshman on Endicott’s team; Steve Pelletier was happy his daughter Meg scored a goal for her women’s rugby team; John DeStefano was happy his son was leaving for the Czech Republic; and last but not least was Tony Mont’s happy dollar for the new addition to the Mont family (a grandchild)

MEETING/ SPEAKER; Today the York Ambulance crew spoke to the club about assistance in helping York Ambulance acquire an ambulance bike and gear to be positioned in the York Beach area during the summers. Currently York Ambulance personnel are using their own bikes to augment the crew and have proven that a bike crew located in the Short Sands area is a benefit to the business and the many visitors to the area. During the peak summer season if the ambulance is called to the beach they travel from the village to the beach by way of Route 1. Having a bike crew stationed in the beach area with the basic medical equipment for a first responder they can provide needed medical attention immediately while the actual ambulance is traveling from the village to the beach. York Ambulance expects the cost to be around $1,500 to configure the bike and they have raised between $300 - $500 as of the meeting. The club will vote on this issue at our next club assembly meeting.
DATES to Remember: District Membership Meeting is September 26 @ 1:30 pm @ York Community College; the weekend of October 31st is the District Conference in Montreal; April 24, 2004 – Spring Dance @ Portsmouth Sheraton
Greeters: September 19th is Ray Bald and September 26th are Jim Bartlett and Ed Benway.
