GUESTS: Mike Pugh, Scott Brit, Tammy Knickey, Candi and Ben Marion, Cal Wallace and Andrew Beal
HAPPY DOLLARS: Jim Bartlett – Casino No’s fundraiser @ the Stage Neck raised $55,000 and they are still looking for more $$$. Casino No is just under $1,000,000 raised and will begin the advertisement campaign next week. Scott Stevens – the Old York Historical Society re-building of the Ramsdell House will be featured on Bill Green’s Maine segment on Saturday night’s channel 6 newscast. Greg Villa and his staff had lunch @ J Ellens and he was surprised at how happy another table of appraisers were (guests Candi and Ben were celebrating all the re-financing money they have earned this year). Annette Fazio was happy for her “best week ever in New York City” – Annette has been having a lot of these “best ever trips” and it is either they really do get better or it is Alzheimer’s and she just doesn’t remember her last trip. John DeStefano – contributed a happy dollar and promoted the current printer cartridge recycle program, thanks to Andy Binger for recruiting 16 military recruiting offices to contribute their used cartridges to our program. Andy Beal – Happy to be returning to speak to the club again. Doug Gray – Impressed to find out from reading this week’s York Weekly that Tony Mont had been on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. when Lincoln made his address. Jim Hager – happy to be heading to his vacation home of Mohegan Island.
SAD DOLLARS:
BIRTHDAYS: Ross Thompson
CLUB ANNIVERSARIES; Jim Hager
LATE: Scott Stevens, Paul Saltzman, Bob Hayward, Annette Fazio, Melanie Ladd, Bill Anderson, Paul Salacain
FINES: Bob Hayward, Jim Bartlett, Andy Binger, Chris MacDonnell
MEETING/ SPEAKER; Today Andrew Beal, President of the York Land Trust, spoke to the club about preserving the historic Plaisted Field. Andrew informed us of the history of this 10-acre piece of land at the corner of Route One and the Spur Road and well as the Land Trust’s 10-year option for the land. The bottom line is that the Land Trust has raised $15,000, needs to raise another $15,000 by the end of September and if they are able to accomplish that the Kennebunk Saving Bank will contribute the remaining $10,000. If you are interested in contributing contact Doreen MacGillis @ 363-7400.
DATES to Remember: September 17th Board Meeting @ Remax – will introduce the web site; District Membership Meeting is September 26 @ 1:30 pm @ York Community College; the weekend of October 31st is the District Conference in Montreal; April 24, 2004 – Spring Dance @ Portsmouth Sheraton
