If you weren’t here last week, here’s what you missed!

J $’s:   Greg Villa was happy to be going to Hawaii to serve his country with the National Guard (sign me up!!); Dave McElwain’s wife was away, so he was happy that his kids could make their own lunches (and probably his, too); Dave’s son Evan was happy the Sox beat the Angels; Dick Santoro was looking for donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. to get him out of jail; Russ Peterson was happy to be going to the Patriot’s game (and got to see history in the making for most consecutive wins!); Ray DeFeo was happy (and a little sad) about attending a field hockey senior night (his little girl is growing up!); Dick Mirick was happy that a private company successfully tested a space craft (watch out NASA).

Tony Mont won the raffle and the rest of us lost.

Shawn McDonald and Jim Gavin were put on seven day notice to become new members.  They should be indicted, (excuse me, inducted) soon.

We received a report on the fine job we did at the York Library.  Thanks to all who participated!

We also voted to donate a $1,000 to a scholarship fund in memory of Mary Andrews’ son who passed away last week.

Our next fundraiser will be the Rotary Chicken Tender Sale at Harvestfest on Friday, October, 16th.  Many hands make for little work (and nervous chickens).  I know Saturday’s weather is looking rather “fowl”, but I’m sure we’ll be able to “pullet” off and have an “egg-citing” time in the process.  So at the risk of sounding “cocky”, don’t be a “chicknsh-t” and come help out!!  (OK, enough with the chicken humor).

Our guest was Dr. James Wolf.  Dr. Wolf is a former York Rotarian and presented a slide show on the great work he and other individuals from the area are doing for people in Ecuador who are suffering from leprosy and other diseases.  The results of their efforts are truly inspiring.
