Speaker—Cpt. Scott Flanders of the Salvation Army; works at the Portsmouth Citadel, married to Leslie Flanders who is also a captain; they have 3 children, born and raised in Dover, De.
His work for the Salvation Army encompasses the greater seacoast area; if the need is legitimate they will help in whatever form possible…run a soup kitchen, a food pantry, and cash assistance. The soup kitchen is open everyday except Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving Day the Portsmouth Rotary has a dinner. The Salvation Army is a church, and Scott is an ordained minister. He met his wife through the Salvation Army.
The Joan Crock Donation – 1.6 Billion dollars to the Salvation Army. She built a beautiful sports/activity building in San Diego about 10 years ago. Her dream was to build about 30 of these facilities across the nation. The money is going to be dispersed to the 4 different territories. No portion of the funds can be utilized for existing programs. The local Salvation Army is still counting on local support! None of the money will go to Maine, New Hampshire, or Vermont as these facilities need to be in large cities so they can be utilized to their maximum and also supported.
Meeting Adjourned.
