MEETING/ SPEAKER;  The guest speaker for today’s meeting was Trish Hunter, District Governor.  She spoke about Rotary International’s mission to reduce poverty, improve literacy (in the U.S. there are 44 million functionally illiterate people) and to expand the Rotary Family.  Next year Rotary will celebrate its 100th year, therefore Trish has challenged our club to designate a centennial project.  Additionally, Trish informed us that the Rotary Polio Eradication project has significantly reduced the number of new cases of Polio (in 2002 there were over 1900 new cases and so far for 2003 there has only been 235 new cases) and that the District raised $400,000 in support of Polio.  Trish’s main goal for this year is to increase public awareness of Rotary and the great contributions Rotary does for our communities and society.

DATES to Remember:  April 24, 2004 – Spring Dance @ Portsmouth Sheraton and weekend of October 31st is the District Conference in Montreal.
